AN ACT to Amend the Representation of the People (Interim Electoral Reform) Act.
[ 30th March, 1995 ]
BE IT ENACTED by The Queen s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Representatives of Jamaica, and by the authority of the same. as follows:-
1 Short title and construction
This Act may be cited as the Representation of the People (Interim Electoral Reform) (Amendment) Act, 1995 and shall be read and construed as one with the Representation of the People (Interim Electoral Reform) Act (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) and all amendments thereto.
2 Amendment of section 9 of principal Act
Section 9 of the principal Act is amended by numbering the section as subsection (1) and by inserting next thereafter the following as subsection (2)-
" (2) Whenever the Committee is satisfied that it is equitable for any regulations made under this section to be given retrospective effect in order to confer a benefit upon or remove a disability attaching to any person, these regulations may be given retrospective effect for that purpose.".
