Independent candidate withdraws from Local Govít Elections


KINGSTON, Jamaica; Marlon Mitchell, the independent candidate for the Bellefield Division in Manchester Central has formally withdrawn his candidacy from the 2016 Local Government Elections. The candidate, who was duly nominated on November 11, has written to the Returning Officer for the Electoral Division, indicating his wish to be removed from the slate of candidates who will contest the election on November 28.

The People’s National Party’s Mario Mitchell and the Jamaica Labour Party’s Ian Hibbert will contest the election.

Candidates may withdraw at any time not less than 96 hours before the opening of the poll on Election Day.
